A Christmas Pagent
And there were in those days fields,
as there also are in these,
cattle and sheep were lowing amidst
the Galilean trees.
Its just as Jesus rendered it
in words so deeply soul'd.
Our children make it live for us, alive
is their starring part.
Interpretations simpler come
steady from their heart.
There was Joseph and his Mary and
a donkey soft portrayed.
Imagination's richness
lovingly conveyed.
Cowering in Angel's music, Shepherds
from their fields at night;
Kings from Eastern shores together
kneel at His first sight.
In a manger quietly....no one
stands alone, God in His Son's dawning
looks down from on-high throne.
Herod's last gasp soldiers
hunting down decree;
Children they are praying
on gentle bended knee.
Rising from a manger as
with all one accord,
they make haste dispersing
praying to their Lord.
Spread the Gospels wisely, you
Gentiles and you Jews....
One-voiced cherub choir
gathered without pews.
Children act concisely
wisdom within grew
to our lands almighty
converted by the few.
Pray this Christmas morning
children, parents, grand-,
Sing of our salvation
Jesus is at hand!
